I always thought it was me and Robert as a partnership. I didn’t know I was in somebody’s band. So for him to let me go out of his band was like, what do you mean, I thought it was OUR band!

You didn’t make mistakes. It was verboten.
Some of us went though hell.
There’s conflict in working with Robert because people think of him as being God. And I don’t know if he realises that and plays into it or hates it or what, but it just happens. It was hard for me to be around that all the time. It’s like… tell me what Robert would say about this, what does Robert think, what would Robert… don’t ask me, ask Robert!
I came back from making some of that music, my hair had fallen out, it was so stressful. Honestly, to be put under the microscope that way…
When it was done, I felt like I’d had a low grade infection for ten years.
